make sure you SMILE"

70 days till we leave.

Everything is going to plan so far.....

We will be leaving Ben's School in 70 days. So much still too be done.

The Principal at Ben's school suggested a BBQ breakfast and a assembly, followed by some of Ben's class mates walking with him to the station.

Brett asked his school about borrowing the Trangia's (cookers) and that is fine so at least we can eat. And for me that is a good thing.

All the documents have just been approved so i can get stuck into mailing them out early next week.

I will post the itinerary soon so you can check if you may be able to join us along the way, more the merrier.......

How hot is it?

By Jo,

Well this weather isn't helping us with our training for the walk.

This weeks training for us involved:
  • Ben attended a tennis camp all week. He managed quite well with the full days and the heat. Struggled this morning with Swim club.
  • Brett soccer training
  • AB, treadmill at home
  • Me just work, which is pretty physical. I would normally walk with the dog along the river but it has been a bit too hot for us. Oh I did do 1 walk.

Not much happening for this Australia Day Long weekend, just relaxing at home. Ben is waiting for Monday to watch Royal Rumble and we are hoping to do the bay walk at Five Dock, Finnegan can at least get a swim with that walk.

Change of plans, yet again!!

By Jo,

Yesterday we drove up and looked at a few parts of the Great North Walk, lovely country.

We have made the final itinerary for our hike, and the last date change for the start. Yes it is FINAL!!!

If we obtain authorisation we will depart from Ben's school on Thursday the 9th April and catch train to Teralba. We should then arrive home on Thursday 23rd April. I had to adjust the departure to accomodate Brett's soccer and Ben wanted to incorperate school. These dates mean that we will leave Teralba on Good Friday. All the boy's asked was "will the Easter Bunny find us?"

Once I have made final adjustments to itinerary I will post it for all to study, to see if you may be able to hike stages with us.

I will have maps and locations of where transport is available. and suggestions of what to pack ie; food, water, clothing etc.

Remember:
True freedom comes from within...Allow yourself to be all that you are.....

It's all happening!!

By Jo, as Ben is on a sleep over.

Well the count down begins.

We are in full swing for the walk from Teralba to Canterbury. Now we have the blog up and running and the everyday hero account open it makes it all so real.

www.everydayhero.com.au/ben_power

On Sunday we are driving up to check out a few sections of the walk, mainly to let the boys see first hand what the terrain will be like. It is very exciting to know that in 88 days we will be heading off on our 14 day journey.

A lot of work still needs to be done but it is for such a worthy cause.

Till the next time i write take care.
